Replica of the Odin amulet of Ribe.
This Viking Age Odin amulet dates to the 9th to 10th centuries. It was found in the former Viking settlement of Ribe in western Jutland in Denmark.
The Odin pendant of Ribe shows a representation of the Norse god Odin with the ravens Hugin and Munin on either side of his head. According to Viking beliefs, Odin's winged companions symbolized thought (Hugin) and wisdom (Munin).
The Odin pendant from Ribe is made of bronze and also available in real silver plated.
A black leather cord in 1 m length for the odin amulet is included.
Odin was the highest of the Germanic gods. Among the Teutons he was called Wotan, the furious one. Odin had many names: The wanderer, poet god, god of the dead and war, leader of the wild hunt, god of the runes, wall father, all-father and, last but not least, father of the gods, they called him. His two ravens Hugin and Munin reported to Odin daily from all over the world. Odin is also the god of wisdom and knowledge.
