The cloisonné pendant comes with a 1 m long black

This golden garnet jewellery from the Vendel period was found during
archaeological excavations in Upland and is the first of its kind ever found in Sweden.
The find was made by a student during excavations on a mound located next to the present church in
Gamla Uppsala and may have been placed in the ground as a kind of offering.
The pendant dates from the late 5th or early 6th century. The
cloverleaf shape may be an early variant of a Christian cross. The pendant was not made in Sweden, but was probably imported from another country in the North Sea area. Similar jewellery is known especially from Anglo-Saxon England.
It is assumed that the jewellery was worn as a
status symbol by a woman of high aristocratic birth. The red garnets are set on a base of ribbed gold leaf to enhance the light reflections.
