Crucifixes with this depiction of Jesus have Byzantine origins and are not untypical of the late Viking Age. They were worn especially by the eastern Vikings, the Rus and Slavs.

Cross pendants with a depiction of Jesus in a blessing gesture were intended to represent a profession of faith, as well as being used as a protective amulet.

You can buy this Viking cross in high-quality bronze or real silver-plated.
Alternatively, also available in 925 sterling silver (Please note the delivery time).

Viking cross dimensions: 4.5 x 3.5 cm.

A 1 m long black leather strap is included with the Viking cross.

During the late Viking Age, it was not uncommon to wear a cross with the image of Christ around the neck, even in Northern Europe. The intention here was probably often to distinguish themselves from the pagan Old Believers, who still adhered to the old belief in the Norse gods.

Viking crosses were often decorated with depictions of Jesus on the cross, a so-called crucifix, which was particularly common among the Vikings in eastern Sweden and western Russia.
