Replica of the Viking Thor's Hammer from Sejrø.
Reduced-scale replica of a Viking Thor's hammer modelled on the find from Sejrø in Denmark dating to the middle of the 9th century.
The simple Thor's hammer from Sejro (Danish: Sejrø or Sejerø) comes from the hoard find from Sejrø on the small Danish island of the same name and was found there at the foot of a bauta stone (Menhir) on the beach.
The treasure of Sejrø dates from the middle of the 10th century, other sources date the Thor's hammer to the time between 800 and 1050 AD.

Thor's Hammer was the magical war hammer of the god Thor, with which he fought the enemies of the Norse gods, such as the giants and the Midgard Serpent. Thor's hammer was therefore also called Mjölnir by the Vikings, which means crusher or lightning.
In the 9th and 10th centuries, Thor's hammer was very popular among the Vikings as a piece of jewellery, as it enabled them to distinguish themselves as Old Believers from the emerging Christianity.
