Mjölnir from Bredsättra after a find from Öland.
Detailed replica of a Thorshammer after the granulated Thorshammer from the village of Bredsättra on the Swedish island of Öland.
This beautiful Viking Mjölnir is a very successful replica after the original Thor's Hammer from Bredsättra, which was decorated with filigree granulation.
Link to the original Thor's Hammer...
Jewellery decorated with filigree granulation from the Viking Age is known from many sites in the Baltic region. In the granulated examples of the Vikings, small beads and fine wires were soldered onto the amulet in filigree minute work.
Our Mjölnir replica, on the other hand, is cast completely in one piece, yet the filigree representation is still magnificently expressed.
Dimensions of Mjölnir of Bredsättra: 4.3 x 2.8 x 0.5 cm.
The Thor's hammer is made of bronze and is also available silver-plated.
A black leather cord of 1 m length for the Thor's hammer is included.
The Thor's hammer was the magical war hammer of the god Thor, with which he fought the enemies of the Norse gods such as the giants and the Midgard serpent. The Thor's hammer was therefore also called Mjölnir by the Vikings, which means malmer or lightning.
In the 9th and 10th centuries, the Thor's hammer was very popular among the Vikings as jewellery, as it allowed them to distinguish themselves as Old Believers from the emerging Christianity.
