Blade based on models from the early Middle Ages.
A knife blade for every purpose, timelessly beautiful and made of high-carbon steel, well suited for medieval and Viking knives.
Forged knife blades with handle tang were very common in the early Middle Ages and were also found among Germanic and Viking peoples. With this knife blade, you can build an authentic medieval knife yourself at little cost.
The knife blade is equipped with a so-called tang, which is inserted into the wooden or bone handle. The blade is based on historical models from the time of the Germanic tribes and the Vikings as well as the early Middle Ages in the period between 500 and 1200 AD.
The knife blade has the following dimensions:
Total length 22 cm
Cutting edge 12 cm
Blade width 2.8 cm
Blade back 4 mm
The medieval knife blade is made of 1095 carbon steel, a classic among knife steels. 1095 is an unalloyed and stainless tool steel with a hardness of 54 HRC Rockwell and a carbon content of 0.90 to 1.03 % with a manganese content of 0.3 to 0.5 %.
This steel is therefore quite tough and grinds very well, with a solid tool life.
We recommend keeping the knife blade dry and treating it occasionally with a little oil to prevent any flash rust.
