Viking Age Rus Cross from Gotland.
The original of this Viking cross amulet was found on the Swedish island of Gotland near Havor / Hablingbo and probably dates to the 10th or 11th century.
The Rus Cross of Gotland is now in the Statens Historiska Museet in Stockholm.
Link to the original Rus cross...
Although the Viking Age cross was found on Gotland, its shape corresponds to the crosses common among the eastern Vikings, the Kiever Rus. It is possible that this cross-pendant once belonged to a long-distance trader from the East.
Like other cross pendants of the Rus, this shape goes back to Byzantine influences and is found in manifold variations in the Viking Age finds of the Ukraine.
Dimensions of the Rus cross: 4 x 4 cm.
The Viking pendant is made of bronze and also available in real silver-plated.
A black leather cord in 1 m length for the Rus cross is included.
