Iron brooch of the Viking Age for tunic or caftan.
This small ring brooch, which you can buy here, is also called a horseshoe or omega brooch and has a diameter of 5 cm. This brooch was widely used in the Viking Age as part of the garment.
The Viking ring brooch has nicely rolled ends and is forged from a 4 mm round bar of iron.
The slightly curved pin is particularly good for grasping fabrics.
Diameter of the forged horseshoe brooch: 5 cm. Needle 6 cm.
The small ring brooch made of iron is well suited for fastening a tunic or caftan and is ideal for garb in LARP and Viking reenactment.
The ring brooch is a garment clasp that is well over a thousand years old and has practical uses. Especially in the Viking Age, but also among the Teutons and Romans, the ring brooch was present and served to close robes and capes.
The pin of the ring brooch is inserted through the fabric of the cloak on the right shoulder and fixed with the round part so that the brooch cannot come loose.
