Artfully twisted Viking Age garment clasp.
Here you can buy a twisted horseshoe brooch modelled on historical Viking garment clasps, forged from a square iron bar twisted in on itself.
The forged Viking horseshoe brooch is distinguished by its elegantly rolled-up ends, which ensure that the pin sits securely on the brooch and cannot slip out of the fabric.
Diameter of the forged horseshoe brooch: 7 cm. Needle length 8.5 cm
The needle is elegantly curved so that it fits snugly and does not stick out. The size of the brooch is ideally suited for fastening caftans, flap skirts or cloaks and is ideal for authentic garb in LARP and Viking reenactment.
This forged garment clasp is also called a horseshoe brooch, omega brooch or ring brooch. It was very common between 790 and 1060 and was used to fasten robes and capes.
The pin of the brooch is inserted through the fabric of the cloak on the right shoulder and then locked in place with the round part. In this way, the garment clasp cannot accidentally come loose.
