Viking Disc brooch in Borre style.
Here you can buy an exceptionally beautifully designed Viking disc brooch that is based on a Finnish find from the 10th century.
This replica of a Finnish brooch is in the so-called Borre style and has a sturdy pin on the back. In the Viking Age, such brooches were used to close the neckline of a tunic or a light cloak.
You can buy this Viking jewellery in high-quality bronze or in real silver-plated.
Special attention is paid to the four animal heads at the ends of the cross, which dominates the centre of the disc brooch.
These animal heads, together with the serpentine braided bands, highlight the fusion of pagan and Christian elements in Viking art and shed light on the significant social upheavals of the time.
Diameter Borre style disc brooch: 4 cm.
One of the famous Viking styles is called Borre style, named after the grave find of Borre in Vestfold / Norway, which dates to the 9th-10th century and represents the second phase of the Nordic grip style and was especially widespread in eastern Scandinavia.
This so-called Borre style was often used as a decorative element on Viking jewellery. It is particularly characterized by mirror-symmetrical motifs, such as circles and squares, which are often expressed in braided ribbon ornamentation, such as ring chains and pretzel knots, where several mythical creatures are often connected with geometric knot formations.
