Large hand-forged Viking brooch of iron.

Here you can buy a large Viking brooch made of iron, forged by hand and with elegantly shaped ends.

This type of brooch was already known 2000 years ago by the Romans and Germanic tribes, but it was especially common during the Viking era and is called a ring brooch or horseshoe brooch because of its shape.

This large forged Viking brooch is used to close a heavy woollen cape, which served as a cloak for people in the Middle Ages.

The needle of the iron brooch is simply pushed through the fabric of the cloak on the shoulder and then locked with the round part so that the brooch cannot come loose.

The needle of the forged Viking brooch is elegantly curved. This way, the needle hugs the body well and grips the fabric of the cloak without sticking out.

Diameter 8.5 cm, needle length 11 cm.
