Medieval mount in the shape of a lily flower.
This medieval mount in the shape of a lily flower, also known as a fleur de lys, follows designs from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
The motif of the lily flower, or fleur de lys, adorned the coats of arms of French rulers throughout the Middle Ages.
The fleur de lys mount is ideal for decorating parts of medieval garments such as historical bags and belts.
The Fleur de Lys fitting is available in brass or silver colour, made from cast zamak.
Dimensions of the Fleur de Lys mount: 6 x 5 cm.
There are two 5 mm long pins on the back of the Fleur de Lys decorative rivet, onto which the small caps supplied are placed for fastening and the decorative rivet is then fastened with a few light taps with a hammer.
In the Middle Ages, the lily was a symbol of purity and innocence and also symbolised the patronage of St Mary. In a Christian context, the tripartite division of the lily flower symbolised the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
According to legend, the fleuer de lys was presented to the Merovingian King Clovis I in the early Middle Ages by an angel who descended from heaven to earth - and the lily was thus considered the coat of arms of French kings throughout the Middle Ages.
