Medieval stud in the shape of a lily - the Fleur-de-Lys.

This beautiful medieval stud in the shape of a lily is based on motifs of the fleur-de-Lys from the High Middle Ages.

The medieval stud in the shape of a lily is a beautiful addition to medieval belts and a pretty decoration for historical equipment in Larp and medieval re-enactment.

The medieval stud is available in brass or silver colour. Made from cast zamak.

Dimensions of medieval Fleur-de-Lys stud: 3.5 x 2.4 cm.

There is a 5 mm long pin on the back of the decorative rivet, onto which a small cap supplied is simply placed for fastening and the fitting can be fixed in this way with a few light taps with a hammer.

According to legend, the lily was presented as Fleur-de-Lys to the Frankish Merovingian king Clovis I by an angel descending from heaven in the early Middle Ages and so the lily was also used as the coat of arms of the French royal family throughout the Middle Ages.

In the Middle Ages, the Fleur-de-Lys was also regarded as a symbol of purity and innocence and symbolised the patronage of the Virgin Mary.
In a Christian context, the lily symbolises the Trinity of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit with the characteristic tripartite division of the flower.
