Amulets in the shape of a moon were common as jewellery among the Slavs, Rus and the Eastern Vikings. The lunula pendant had a significance above all as magical protection for girls and women.

A black leather cord in 1 m length is included with the Lunula pendant.

Slavic Lunula pendnats are symbols for the female powers of nature and illustrate the power of the moon. Such lunula pendants were especially meant to give protection to the unborn life and also to protect the mother from harm.

Moon amulets were already used by the Romans, which suggests the deep emotions that people have associated with the moon since time immemorial. Moon pendants as symbols of the Roman goddess Luna can be found in Roman settlements, camps and burial grounds as early as the 2nd century AD. Later, Lunula pendants were also popular among Germanic and Slavic people during this time.
