Foxtail chains with endings in the shape of animal heads are not uncommon in archaeological finds from the Viking Age.
The two wolf heads on this Viking brooch chain were modelled on a Thor's hammer from Iceland.

However, the chain can be used not only as a connecting chain between a pair of brooches, but also to attach a hanging toilet set with tweezers, needle box or key.

The Viking Age foxtail brooch chain has small S-hooks on both sides for attaching to the brooch and a total length of 30 cm. The thickness of the chain is 5 mm.
