On the back is a not only authentic but also stable spiral pin construction - so this oval brooch is also suitable for a garment made of strong woollen fabric.
On the underside, the oval brooch is also equipped with a small eyelet in which a chain can be attached. In contrast to the historical model, this reproduction is made in a reduced size.
The oval brooch was an integral part of the Viking women's garments and was used to fasten the apron to the overdress when worn in pairs under the right and left shoulder.
Since the oval brooch was always worn in pairs in the Viking Age, it is advisable to order two pieces.
The price is for a single oval brooch.
In the period from 500 to 1000 AD, the oval brooch (also called bowl brooch, turtle brooch or tortoise brooch) was an indispensable part of the female costume in northern Europe. Therefore, oval brooches are quite often found in the women's graves of the Viking Age.
