Medieval earrings in the so-called Winchester style.
Here you can buy a pair of openwork and detailed medieval earrings decorated with filigree animal and vine motifs.
These beautiful medieval earrings have been faithfully reproduced from an Anglo-Saxon strap earring in the so-called Winchester style, which enchants with its filigree design.
A large number of Winchester-style strap end fittings have survived from Anglo-Saxon England, dating from the 10th-11th centuries and distinguished by their filigree and often openwork design.
The medieval earrings "Winchester" measure 5.5 x 1.8 cm including the ear hooks.
You can buy these beautiful medieval earrings in high-quality bronze or in real silver-plated.
The Winchester style is an early English or Anglo-Saxon style of art from the 10th - 12th centuries. Winchester was the capital of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Wessex from the early Middle Ages until the beginning of the 12th century and became influential in English art in the 10th and 11th centuries.
Primarily, the Winchester style was significant for book illumination, but there are many artisan artefacts from Anglo-Saxon England that are designed in the Winchester style tradition, especially strap end fittings for belts and bridles with openwork vine work, acanthus leaves and naturalistic motifs.
