Earrings in the shape of a Rurikid trident.
These elegant earrings in the shape of a so-called Rurikid trident were made after a medieval tamga dating from the early 11th century.
The historical model for this earring is a so-called Tamga of
St. Vladimir I, which was found in Smolensk and comes from the excavation layer of the years 1006 - 1025 AD.
Link to the original Trient...
This trident was the emblem of the
Rurikid dynasty and can be seen in a very similar form on the national coat of arms of today's Ukraine.
The trident earrings are made of high-quality
bronze and are also available in genuine
silver-plated.
The
dimensions are 3 x 1,7 cm (incl. hook 4,8 cm).
The trident, the so-called tryzup, is nowadays the small
national emblem of Ukraine. However, its historical roots go back a long way, as the first historical evidence dates back to the time of the Rus, who used the trident as a symbol on coins and rulers' signs on the territory of today's Ukraine from around 1000 AD onwards.
There are many legends about the
Ukrainian trident, but it is certain that it is of Tartar origin and was finally used as a symbol of power on the tamgas of the Rurikid dynasty in the early Middle Ages.
