Earrings in the shape of a medieval lily.
An expressive earring in the shape of a lily, the so-called Fleur de lys, inspired by historical models from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
The medieval earring measures 4.5 x 2 cm including ear hook.
Made of bronze and also available in real silver plated.
The Fleur de lys earring is supplied as a pair.
For the people of the Middle Ages, the lily blossom was a symbol of purity and innocence par excellence - the lily symbolised the patronage of the Virgin Mary. Thus, the lily was also called Fleur de Lys - flower of light.
In the Christian context, the tripartite division of the lily blossom symbolized the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
According to legend, the Fleur de Lys was presented to the Merovingian king Clovis I in the early Middle Ages by an angel who descended to earth from heaven, and therefore the lily was considered the coat of arms of the French kings throughout the Middle Ages.
