Bird pendant after a find from the Vendel period.
This bird pendant was faithfully reproduced from a historical Vendel era brooch found in the excavations of Uppåkra / Sweden.
The original brooch after which this pendant was made dates from the middle of the 7th to the beginning of the 8th century. It probably represents a raven, which was often used as a companion of the god Odin in art and jewellery during the Iron Age and the Viking Age.
On the backside the Vendel bird pendant has an eyelet for a necklace.
You can buy this Viking pendant in high-quality bronze or real silver-plated.
Alternatively, also available in 925 sterling silver (Please note the delivery time). Alloy...
A black leather strap of 1 m length is included.
Uppåkra, located near Lund in the Swedish province of Skåne, was inhabited since the Stone Age and gradually developed into the largest Iron Age settlement in southern Sweden.
Uppåkra had its heyday from 400 to 1050 AD, as evidenced by a number of spectacular finds from the settlement layer, most of which date to the periods of the Germanic Iron Age and Viking Age.
Uppåkra seems to have been a political, economic and religious centre and was probably the royal seat of an early empire in Skåne.
