The raven has probably appeared as a figure in the myths and fairy tales of mankind since time immemorial and was even sacred among the Germanic tribes. For example, the ravens Hugin and Munin were the faithful companions of the father of the gods Wotan / Odin, who sent them out into the world every morning to bring him new news in the evening, because Odin was the god of wisdom. Hugin here stands for thought, thinking and wisdom, whereas Mugin stands for memory, recollection and omniscience.
