Raven shaped pendant of the Vendel Era.
This expressive raven pendnat is made after a bird fitting from the Vendel period, which was found as a pair on the Swedish island of Gotland and dates from around 600 AD.
The raven pendant represents one of the ravens of the
norse god Odin / Wotan, who always accompanied the father of the gods with his companion on his ways.
The original fittings can be admired today in the Statens
Historiska Museum in Stockholm.

The style of the pendant belongs to the Vendel period, which immediately preceded the Viking Age. Depictions of birds are
very common in this period, and they were widespread throughout the Germanic area until the Viking Age.
The Vendel period raven pendant has the
