Raven shaped pendant of the Vendel Era.

This expressive raven pendnat is made after a bird fitting from the Vendel period, which was found as a pair on the Swedish island of Gotland and dates from around 600 AD.

A black leather cord in 1 m length for the raven pendnat is enclosed.

The raven has probably appeared as a figure in the myths and fairy tales of mankind since time immemorial, and was even sacred among the Germanic tribes. For example, the ravens Hugin and Munin were the faithful companions of the father of the gods Wotan / Odin, who sent them out into the world every morning to bring him new news in the evening.

Because Odin was the god of wisdom. Hugin here stands for thought, thinking and wisdom, whereas Mugin stands for memory, recollection, and omniscience.
