Wolf's cross Thor's hammer from the Viking Age.
Here you can buy a Thor's hammer made after the famous find from Fossi in Iceland.
This Thor's hammer is something exceptional, as the wolf cross combines pagan and Christian symbolism into a harmonious whole.
The wearer may have wanted to assure himself of both powers with this wolf cross Thor's hammer at the time, or that he wore the amulet to trade with both pagan and Christian customers.
Whatever the case may be, the Viking jewellery is an impressive testimony to the enormous intellectual upheavals that preoccupied people in the north in the 10th century.
The original wolf cross pendant comes from the Fossi find in Iceland and dates back to the Viking Age of the 10th century.
The wolf cross is made of cast zamak and is available in brass and silver colours and measures 4.8 x 3 cm.
A 2 mm thick, 1 metre long black cotton cord for the amulet is included.
In Old Norse, the Thor's hammer is called Mjölnir, which probably means crusher or lightning. The Mjöllnir was the magical war hammer of the Norse god Thor, with which he fought the enemies of the gods, in particular the giants and the Midgard Serpent. The Mjölnir returned to Thor's hand by itself after each throw.
In the 9th and 10th centuries, the Thor's hammer was very popular as jewellery for the Vikings in order to visibly distance themselves as pagans from the emerging Christianity.
