Damascus knife blade made of 256 layers.
Fine Damascus knife blade made of genuine Damascus steel with 256 layers according to a Viking Age find from Novgorod.
Knife blades made of Damascus steel like this one were already used by the Romans and Celts. Such damascus blades were also highly valued by the Germanic and Viking peoples because damascus knife blades combine hardness with elasticity in an excellent way - the blade is therefore both durable and unbreakable.
This Damascus knife blade in the style of the Viking Age is perfect for making an authentic knife yourself at relatively low cost and creating an individual one-off piece that meets your own requirements in terms of form and function.
The Damascus knife blade is forged from two different types of steel: AISI 4340 is a hard tempering steel with a low carbon content, containing nickel and chromium as well as molybdenum, and has a high toughness.
And from 15N20 a nickel-containing steel with good properties, which produces beautiful bright sections and good contrasts when processed in Damascus steel. Both steels together produce the beautifully mottled Damascus steel. Each piece forged from this steel has its own distinctive pattern. The hardness is 58 to 60 HCR Rockwell.
The Damascus blade has the following dimensions:
Total length 16 cm
Blade width 2.4 cm
Blade back 3 mm
Cutting edge 8 cm
