Knife blade made from genuine Damascus steel with 256 layers.
Damascus knife blade, crafted from genuine Damascus steel, forged with 256 layers. Perfect for making medieva knives.
The Romans and Celts were already familiar with blades made from damascened steel. However, such Damascus blades were also highly prized by the Germanic tribes and the Vikings, as Damascus steel blades combine hardness with elasticity. A blade made from genuine Damascus steel is therefore both sharp and break-resistant.
This large damascened steel knife blade is simply ideal for crafting your own authentic damascened knife at minimal cost, thereby creating a unique, one-of-a-kind piece that meets your own requirements in both form and function.
The Damascus knife blade is forged from two types of steel to form Damascus steel: AISI 4340 is a hard, heat-treated steel with a low carbon content, which contains molybdenum as well as nickel and chromium, and possesses high toughness. And 15N20, a nickel-containing steel with excellent properties, which produces striking contrasts and beautiful, light-coloured sections in the Damascus steel. When these two steels are forged together, they produce the beautifully flamed Damascus pattern. The blade’s hardness is between 58 and 60 HCR Rockwell.
The Damascus blade has the following dimensions:
Total length 24 cm
Cutting edge 14 cm
Blade spine 4 mm
Blade width 2.8 cm
The knife blade is supplied without a handle and with a basic sharpening. A matching leather sheath can be purchased separately.
