Knife blade modelled on medieval knives.
This extra large knife blade made of carbon steel is particularly suitable for medieval kitchen knives.
Forged knife blades with tang were very common in the early Middle Ages and were also used by Germanic and Viking tribes. With this knife blade it is easy to make an authentic medieval knife with little effort.
The tang of this knife blade is 12 cm long, so that it can be led through the entire handle and riveted at the end, as was often the case with medieval knives.
The knife blade has the following dimensions:
Total length 26 cm
Cutting edge 14 cm
Tang 12 cm
Blade width 2.8 cm
Blade back 3 cm
The knife blade is made of 1095 carbon steel, a classic among knife steels. This steel is therefore quite tough and can be sharpened very well, with a solid service life. A 1095 carbon steel blade is indeed hard to break down and a reliable "workhorse" - hard, flexible, unbreakable!
We recommend keeping the knife blade dry and treating it occasionally with a little oil to prevent any flash rust.1095 is an unalloyed and rustproof tool steel with a hardness of 54 HRC Rockwell and a carbon content of 0.90 to 1.03 % with a manganese content of 0.3 to 0.5 %.
