Long Viking knife made of genuine Damascus steel.

Here you can buy a long Viking knife with a blade of real Damascus steel, made after a find from Hellvi on the isle of Gotland.

Long knives were widespread among the Vikings in eastern Scandinavia and are known in several examples from Birka and Gotland. Often these long Viking knives were equipped with suspensions and corresponding belt distributors made of bronze.

This Viking knife also comes with a solid leather sheath with a practical strap distributor that allows you to adjust the angle of the knife individually.

In addition to the strong blade made of genuine Damascus steel, the beautifully polished walnut handle also deserves attention, which is artfully edged at the end with several layers of brass that give the Viking knife a pleasant weight and balance it well. There is also a small ring at the end of the handle so that the long Viking knife can be easily pulled out of the sheath.

The solid knife blade is made of genuine damascus steel with 176 layers and has a hardness of 56 - 58 HCR Rockwell. Knives made of damask steel were held in high esteem in the early Middle Ages because they are characterised by both hardness and elasticity.

On the one hand, carbon steel AISI 1095 is used for this Viking knife, a classic among knife steels, which is very tough as an unalloyed and stainless tool steel, can be sharpened well and has a solid service life.
On the other hand, AISI 4340 is used, a nickel-containing steel with good properties that creates beautiful bright sections and noble contrasts when used in Damascus steel. Both steels together produce a very beautiful flamed pattern in wild damascus.

The long Viking knife has the following dimensions:
Overall length 31 cm
Blade length 19 cm
Blade width 3 cm
Blade back 6 mm
