Short Viking sax made of Damascus steel with 256 layers.
Here you can buy a short Viking sax with a broken-back blade made of Damascus steel.
The sax was not only used by the Vikings and Saxons, but already by the Germanic tribes as an inexpensive weapon and served well both as a "machete" and as a weapon in battle.
This short Viking sax has a bowie-knife-like broken-back blade, which was particularly common among the Anglo-Saxons in the Viking Age and is frequently found in Viking-era finds in England.
The Viking sax is very well made and sharpened and comes with a solid leather sheath made of strong cowhide. The scabbard is designed to be worn on the back and the sax is drawn with the right hand.
The noble handle made of dark brown walnut wood and the brass and leather layers require special attention. At the end, the Viking sax is provided with a small ring by which it can be easily pulled out of the scabbard.
The short Viking sax has the following dimensions:
Total length 32.5 cm
Blade length 20 cm
Handle length 12.5 cm
Blade back 5 mm
Blade height 3.5 cm
The Sax blade has 256 layers and is forged from two different types of steel. The first is AISI 4340, which is a hard tempered steel with a low carbon content and contains nickel, chromium and molybdenum as well as high toughness.
On the other hand, 15N20 is used for this Viking sax, a nickel-containing steel with good properties, which creates beautiful bright sections and noble contrasts when used in damask steel. When both types of steel are forged together, the result is damask steel that is expressive and full of character.
