Viking Gotland Sphere - small

Replica of a Gotland sphere in small version.

This replica of a small spherical rock crystal pendant was made according to a historical model from Gotland / Sweden dating tot the end of the Viking Age in the middle of the 11th century.

The original of this Viking rock crystal pendant was found in Domerarve / Öja on the island of Gotland and is now in the Statens Historiska Museet, Stockholm.

Unlike the historical original pendant that was made of rock crystal, we offer our Gotland Sphere with a ball made of glass, which allows less affluent customers to wear this noble Viking jewellery.

The setting of the Gotland Sphere is made of bronze and is also available in real silver-plated

Dimension Gotland Sphere: 3.8 x 1.8 cm.
1.6 cm sphere diameter. 1.4 cm ring diameter.

A black leather strap of 1 m length is included.

Two larger sphere pendants are also available, e.g. for a composition as a necklace.

Pendants made of rock crystal are remarkable evidence of the highly developed jewellery design in the late Viking Age and so far only known from the Swedish island of Gotland. The rock crystal pendants are thus an absolute speciality in the jewellery of the Viking Age. Complete necklaces made of rock crystal with silver settings and precious silver beads have even been found on Gotland, which belong to the absolute masterpieces of Viking jewellery.
