Viking mount with Midgard serpent in Urnes style.

This decorative Viking mount depicting the Midgard Serpent in the Urnes style is inspired by finds from the late Viking Age.

The Viking mount with Midgard serpent can be used beautifully as a decorative stud on historical bags, Viking belts and other leather items.

Diameter of the Viking mount: 4.4 cm.

The mount is available in brass or silver-coloured cast zamak.

There are two 5 mm long pins on the back of the Midgard Serpent Viking decorative rivet, onto which the small caps supplied are simply placed and fixed in place with a few light taps of the hammer.

After the famous stave church of Urnes in southern Norway, the last of the great Viking art forms is now called the Urnes style, which dates back to the middle of the 11th century. At the Urnes church, marvellous carvings in this distinctive animal style were found, which have been perfectly preserved to this day.

The Urnes style is particularly typical of jewellery from the late Viking period, e.g. openwork brooches and brooches with wonderfully intertwined bodies, which can be found throughout the finds from Ireland to Russia. Urnes Stave Church was built around 1100 and is considered to be the oldest stave church in the world.
