Viking fitting dimensions: 3.5 x 3.5 cm.
The square metal mount has two 5 mm pins on the back, onto which the small caps supplied are simply placed for fastening, allowing the fitting to be fixed in place with a few light taps of the hammer.
The Borre style is named after the grave find from Borre, a small village on the west side of the Oslofjord in the municipality of Vestfold, dating from the 9th to 10th century and represents the second phase of the Nordic animal style. The Borrestil was particularly widespread in eastern Scandinavia.
The Borrestil is characterised by mirror-symmetrical motifs, especially circles and squares, which are beautifully expressed in the braided band ornamentation, e.g. as ring chains and pretzel knots. Mythical creatures are also frequently associated with the geometric knotwork.
