Print product data sheet

Alemannic belt buckle of the 5th - 6th century.

This Alemannic belt buckle was made after a find from Balingen in southern Germany and was typical of Germanic garments in the late antiquity and the early Middle Ages.

A corresponding counter fitting is also available to match this buckle, as it was characteristic of Alemannic belts during the Merovingian Era.

The belt buckle measures 9.5 x 5.5 cm. It is suitable for belts of 4 cm width and is ideal for early medieval representation.

The Alemannic buckle is made of zinc and available in brass or silver color.

In contrast to the historical originals, this Alemannic buckle is equipped with a normal spike and not with a spike plate, as usually occurs in the find material of the early Middle Ages.

On the back of the Merovingian belt buckle are three 5 mm long pins, onto which small caps supplied are simply placed for fastening and fixed with a few light hammer blows.
