Viking pouch fitting for a so-called Birka bag.
This Viking pouch fitting is a replica of an original Viking bag fastener from the 9th - 10th century, found in Ås in Jämtland, Sweden.
The historical model of this Viking pouch fitting is about half the size of our reproduction.
Very similar bag fittings from the Viking Age are also known from Birka, for example, and go back to Magyar models.
To close the so-called Birka bag, a leather or metal loop was inserted through the opening in the middle of the Viking bag, and the bag was then closed with a leather strap pulled through.
A strap passage suitable for this fitting is also available.
Dimensions: 8.2 x 7.2 cm / passage width 2 cm.
The Viking bag fitting is available in brass or silver-coloured zinc casting.
On the back, the Viking bag fitting has four pins of 5 mm length, on which small, supplied caps are simply placed for fastening and the pocket fitting is then fixed with a few light hammer blows.
