Replica of a Viking bronze comb pendant.

Several models of comb pendants from the Viking Age are known from eastern Sweden and the Baltic States and were often part of the Viking women's costume, along with other toiletries.

Finds show that the beard combs, together with ear spoons and nail cleaners, were hung on chains or ribbons from the bowl brooches of the women's garments and were thus always at hand.

The Viking bronze beard comb is faithfully modelled on a find in the so-called Ringerike style, one of two identical comb pendants from the Viking Age found in England and dating to the 11th century.

The Viking comb pendant measures 4.9 x 3.5 cm

You can purchase the comb in high-quality bronze or in genuine silver-plated.
Alternatively, you can also order it in 925 sterling silver (please note delivery time).

A black leather cord in 1 m length for the bronze comb is included.

Bronze beard combs from the Viking Age, more commonly made of bone or antler, date from the 8th to 11th centuries AD and are mostly associated with urban craftsmanship or higher social classes.

Specific sites where Viking-era beard combs have been found include Haithabu (Schleswig-Holstein), where metal combs and comb fragments have been discovered in settlements and workshops, Birka (Sweden), with individual bronze specimens from burial contexts, as well as York (Jórvík, England) and Dublin (Ireland), where bronze beard combs were recovered from the damp layers of the Viking-era city centre.
