Viking pendant in the shape of the Midgard Serpent.

This pretty Viking pendant is based on a Finnish sword hilt in the Urnes style from the period 1000 to 1100 AD.

The sword whose handle was the inspiration for this pendant was found in a Finnish woman's grave of the 11th century AD in the village of Suontaka. There was a wealthy woman with two swords buried, one of them decorated with filigree animal motifs in typical Urnes style.

Link to the historical model...

The Midgard Serpent was regarded by the Germanic tribes and Vikings as a sea serpent that spanned the earth and signified the end of the world. According to legend, it was once conceived by the Norse god Loki. In Ragnarök, the end of the world, the god Thor crushes the Midgard Serpent with his hammer before he himself dies from its poison.

You can buy the pendant in high-quality bronze or genuine silver-plated.
Alternatively, also available in 925 sterling silver (Please note the delivery time).
Alloy...

The Viking pendant has the dimensions 4.8 x 2.3 cm.

A black leather strap in 1 m length is included.

The Urness style is very typical of the jewelry of the late Viking Age and has been preserved in finds from Ireland to Russia. This last of the great Viking styles was named after the Viking bar church of Urnes of the same name and dates back to the middle of the 11th century. Magnificent carvings in this distinctive animal style were found in the church of Urnes and have been exceptionally well preserved to this day.
