Slavic temple rings in small size.
These replicas of simple temple rings in small size are made according to historical models from the Middle Ages.
The temple ring was a typical costume component among the Slavic peoples of the Middle Ages and was still in use there until the 12th century.
However, temple rings were not only worn as jewellery by the Slavs in the early Middle Ages, but also by the Franks and Alemannic, and are therefore frequently found in southern German finds from the early Middle Ages.
Usually, the temple ring was knotted directly into the hair and worn in pairs or several along the temples, from which the name derives. However, temple rings could also be woven into a headband or scarf.
The temple ring measures 2.4 x 1.9 cm and comes as a pair.
