Temple rings - replica after a find from Poland.
Replica of traditional Slavic temple rings after a medieval find from ca. 900 to 1000 AD from the Polish excavations of Zawada Lanckorońska.
The temple ring was an important part of Slavic costume in the Middle Ages and was in use until the 12th century, as was this example from the treasure of Zawada Lanckorońska. Especially in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia there are rich finds of temple rings in various forms.
Often these temple rings were simply woven into the hair and worn in pairs or several at the temple, from which the term temple ring is derived.
However, single or multiple temple rings could also be worn tucked into a headband or scarf.
These temple rings could be worn as earrings or as a classic temple ring in the hair.
Dimensions temple ring Zawada: 6 x 3.5 x 0.6 cm.
Made of bronze and also available in real silver-plated.
