Print manufacturer information

Stave chain distributor of the Viking Age from Gotland.

This exact replica of a Viking Age stave chain distributor is modelled on an original bead divider from Stora Ire at Hellvi on the Swedish island of Gotland.

Bead distributors are found more frequently in Viking Age graves, especially in eastern Sweden, on Gotland and in the Baltic States.

On the back of the Viking stave chain distributor there are six holes for attaching several chains, but fewer chains can also be attached.

The Stora Ire bead divider is available in bronze and in real silver-plated.

The price is for one chain distributor, so for a pair please order two.

The bar bead distributor has the dimensions: 10 x 1 cm.

From about 700 to 1000 A.D. oval brooches with chain distributors were an elementary part of women's costume in Sweden and the Baltic States in Northern Europe and are thus often found in the women's burials of the Viking Age there.

Often several chains were worn between the oval brooches, which were attached to wide distribution plates or narrow stave chain distributors. This custom was especially common in eastern Sweden as well as in Finland and the Baltic States.
