Amulet in the shape of a bearded axe from the Viking Age.
This pendant with the miniaturized depiction of a bearded axe is modelled on a Viking Age find from Norway.
There are several finds of axe pendants from the Viking Age because especially in the Viking Age, beautiful axes were forged, and even jarls and kings used to carry an axe as a status symbol.
The model for this bearded axe pendant comes from a Viking find from Norway. In our axe pendant, however, the axe beard has been slightly reduced in size to optimize the centre of gravity for the amulet.
The bearded axe pendant measures 3.5 x 2 cm.
The Viking axe amulet is made of cast zamac and is available in brass or silver.
A black cotton ribbon in 1 m length for the amulet is included.
The axe is one of the oldest symbols of mankind, for the axe has accompanied man through everyday life since the earliest beginnings of history.
The axe was both an indispensable tool and a weapon. The bearded axe is typical of the Viking Age and was used in many forms.
