Forged knife from the Iron Age with eating spike.
An eating spike completes this Germanic knife from the Iron Age, which is often also called a Viking knife.
The Germanic knife is hand-forged from a single piece of carbon steel and simply captivates with its beautiful, matt black surface in a rustic forged look. The enclosed spike is in a way the forerunner of today's fork, which was still unknown to the Germanic tribes.
The Germanic knife is based on original historical finds from the post-Christian Iron Age and is an ideal addition to the garments in Germanic, Viking and medieval re-enactment.
These knives, forged in one piece, are often attributed to the Viking Age and therefore called Viking knives. This is not historically correct. There are no such knives in the finds from the Viking Age, the finds date to around 1000 years earlier, but this in no way diminishes their utility value!
The Germanic knife is delivered with a brown leather sheath (colour varies from light brown to black) and in basic sharpness.
The hardness of the knife is 54 to 56 HCR Rockwell.
Dimensions: Knife length: 19 cm, blade length: 10 x 2.5 cm.
