Medieval trammel hook - small size.

In the Middle Ages, such a trammel hook was widespread in kitchens and still in use as a kettle hook well into the 19th century.

That small medieval trammel hook is entirely forged by hand according to medieval models and has eight teeth with which the height of the kettle above the fire is regulated.

When cooking on an open fire, such a trammel hook is simply indispensable - that is why trammel hooks has been part of the kitchen equipment since the Middle Ages up to the present day and is therefore perfectly suited for cooking on an open fire in LARP and medieval re-enactment.

The small medieval trammel hook has the dimensions: 37 x 7 cm, extended 59 cm.

By the way, the trammel hook also had a significance in medieval law - for example, when a house was sold, the trammel hook was taken from the fire by the lord of the manor and handed over to the buyer.

In some regions, it was customary for the newly-weds to present their brides with a beautifully crafted fire saw on their wedding day, thus symbolically transferring to her the future responsibility for the kitchen and hearth.

In heraldry, trammel hooks are often found on coats of arms and thus clearly show how important fire and hearth once were as the focal point of medieval life.
