Hand-forged medieval Skewer with knotted end.
Here you can buy an artfully forged medieval skewer that is ideal for eating as in the Middle Ages or for all kinds of tasks.
The medieval skewer has a
matt black surface that emphasises the rustic character of this utensil.
Like its historical medieval counterparts, the skewer is
artfully twisted and elegantly forged into a loop at the end so that a leather strap can be pulled through it if required.
The
dimensions of the skewer are 16 x 2 cm.
A skewer was widespread in the Middle Ages and can be found everywhere in
Central Europe in a similar form because in the Middle Ages the fork was considered diabolical due to its tines and was used at most to fish pieces of meat out of the pot, but not for eating.
In those days, only the hands, the knife or a skewer were
used for eating, which also served to break open the bones to get at the marrow, or as a toothpick. It was thus a much more universal "eating tool" than the fork.
In the Middle Ages, a skewer can be found on both
civilian and military clothing and as part of hunting tools. Knife scabbards and sometimes even sword scabbards often had a separate sheath for the skewer.
This medieval skewer is a historical prop that is produced in
small numbers and therefore does not have food certification. Therefore, we are obliged to the following notice: Prop - not certified for contact with food.
