Replica of a round annular brooch with lettering from the High Middle Ages around 1350 - 1450, probably made in France.
The intercessor's brooch is engraved on both sides with the following inscription on the back: "ihesus nazaren[us] rex iudeoru[m]" (Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews) and on the front: "iasper: melchior: balthazar" (Kaspar, Melchior, Baltasar).
This medieval jewellery is called annular brooch or ring brooch and was used in the High and Late Middle Ages from the 13th to the 15th century. It was common in large parts of Europe for men and women alike and used to close the neckline of medieval clothing.
The medieval annular brooch is made of bronze and is also available in real silver-plated.
