This Celtic garment clasp from the early Latène period was used to hold clothing together and is designed in the so-called early Latène pattern, which means that the foot is bent back in a wide arc towards the hanger.

The bow of this type of Celtic fibula is typically ribbon-shaped and can be plain or decorated.

Fibulae of this type were widespread as garment clasps in the Celtic Iron Age and were in particular use during the Latène B period, i.e. from 380 to 250 BC in southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland as far as eastern France.
