Heart-shaped belt stud of the Viking Age with ring.
Replica of a heart-shaped belt stud with a ring eyelet that was made after the model of a Viking fitting from Norbotten / Sweden.
Link to the historical model...
Heart-shaped belt fittings were typical of the splendid belt sets of the Viking Age and were brought to Scandinavia by Rus and Magyars via the great trade routes. This is why such heart-shaped fittings are often found in Viking Age graves.
Some of these belt fittings were also equipped with ring loops to which personal items of daily use such as knives, fire paddles, sharpening stones etc. could be attached, or a secondary strap with more eternal fittings could be attached, as was also the custom among the eastern equestrian peoples.
The dimensions of the heart -shaped Viking belt stud without the ring are 2.4 x 2 cm.
The ring itself has a diameter of 1.5 cm.
The belt buckle is available in bronze and real silver-plated.
Fastening: There are three pins on the back of the Viking Age belt stud. To fasten the fitting, simply insert the pins through the holes in the leather. It is best to use pliers to bend the tip of the rivet pin inwards a little. If you then tap the pins flat with a hammer, the tip will sink into the leather and the belt stud will be fixed stably and flat on the belt.
