Viking belt fitting made of bronze with ring eyelet.
This detailed replica of a Viking belt fitting with a ring eyelet was made after a find from Chernigov in the Ukraine.
Belt fittings were very common in the Viking Age and are therefore often found in Viking finds. Especially among the eastern Vikings in Sweden, Gotland and Russia, very richly studded belt sets were often given as grave goods.
Some belt fittings of the Viking Age were also equipped with ring loops to which personal items of daily use such as knives, fire paddles, sharpening stones, etc. could be attached, or a secondary strap with more eternal fittings could be attached, as was also the custom among the eastern equestrian peoples.
The dimensions of the belt fitting without the ring are 2.4 x 2.2 cm.
The ring itself has a diameter of 1.5 cm.
The belt buckle is available in bronze and real silver-plated.
Fastening: There are four pins on the back of the Viking belt fitting. To fasten the decorative rivets, simply insert them through the corresponding holes in the leather. Use pliers to bend the tip of the pin inwards a little. If you then tap the pins flat with a hammer, the tip will sink into the leather and the belt fitting will be stable and flat on the belt.
