Expressive Viking pendant with gripping beast.
This round pendant was modelled on a brooch of the Viking Age from Norway in the Borre style from the 9th century.
The depiction shows a so-called gripping beast, which was very characteristic for the Borre style.
The expressive Viking pendant is available in high-quality bronze or genuine silver-plated.
Dimensions 2.7 x 2.5 cm.
The Borre style represents the second phase of the Nordic gripping beast style, this was particularly widespread in eastern Scandinavia in the 9th and 10th centuries. The Borre style is named after the grave find of Borre in Vestfold, Norway, where many finds in this art style had been excavated.
The Borre style is characterized by mirror-symmetrically arranged motifs, especially circles and squares, which is very visible in the wickerwork ornamentation. Characteristic of the Borre style are, among other things, ring chains and pretzel knots; mythical animals are also frequently incorporated into the geometric knot work.
