Amulet depicting a Valkyrie from Tuna.
This faithful replica of a Viking amulet shows the depiction of a small female figure, nobly dressed and with an elaborate hairstyle.
The original Viking jewellery probably depicts a Valkyrie. The small amulet comes from a Viking Age woman's grave in the boat burial ground of Tuna in Uppland, Sweden.
Link to the historical model...
Representations of women are found more frequently in Viking Age finds. They were probably worn as protective amulets in this period, as Valkyries were considered in Norse mythology to be the women who chose the souls of the fallen warriors (Einherijr) after battle to guide them into the halls of Valhalla.
The Valkyrie amulet is available in high-quality bronze and in genuine silver plated.
Dimensions of the Valkyrie of Tuna: 3.4 x 1.5 cm.
A black leather cord in 1 m length for the Valkyrie amulet is included.
