Raven pendant from the Vendel period.

Here you can buy a raven pendant made according to a historical model from the Vendel period.

The Vendel Era raven pendant was made after a fitting that was found on the Swedish island of Gotland and dates back to around 600 AD.

Link to the historical model...

The bird is presumably intended to represent one of the ravens Hugin or Munin, who, according to legend, accompanied the Germanic god Odin / Wotan on his journeys.

The historical originals, a raven looking to the left and a raven looking to the right, are now on display at the Statens Historiska Museum in Stockholm.

The Vendel Age directly preceded the Viking Age and, like it, has many analogies to the Germanic cultural area. Depictions of birds are therefore frequently found in Northern and Central Europe during these periods.

The raven pendant measures 5 x 3.4 cm.
A black leather cord in 1 m length is included.

You can buy the pendant in high-quality bronze or genuine silver-plated.
Alternatively, also available in 925 sterling silver (Please note the delivery time).
Alloy...

The ravens Hugin and Munin were the companions of the Germanic father of the gods Odin, who was nicknamed Hrafnáss (raven god) for good reason. Odin was also regarded as the god of war, and so the ravens are a fitting attribute, as they held sumptuous meals among the fallen warriors after battle.

The name Hugin comes from the Old Norse word huga (to think) and means "the thought", whereas Munin comes from the word muna (to remember) and means "the memory".
