The Roman settlement of Aquincum was the forerunner of modern-day Budapest. Only a few years after the birth of Christ, the Romans established a military camp in the area of today's Òbuda.

A short time later, the people of the neighbourhood built houses near the camp, which later developed into the Roman town of Aquincum, which flourished in the second and third centuries AD.

The artefacts recovered from the former Aquincum can be admired today in the Aquincumi Múzeum in the Hungarian capital Budapest.
