This Renaissance dress fastener was inspired by an English find from the Tudor period that dates from the 16th - 17th centuries.

The historical model for this Dress fastener was a Renaissance dress hook, which was used in the Tudor period to lift the hem of the skirt off the ground, or was attached to the end of a shawl worn over the shoulders.
